  10. Kip, however, became ill before the Games. 
  11. Still, he entered the 1,500-meter, 5,000-
  12. meter, and 10,000-meter runs. In his first 
  13. race, the 10,000, he dropped out near the
  14. finish. But four days later, he finished second
  15. in the 5,000 meters. Three days after that, he
  16. won the 1,500 meters and set an Olympic
  17. record that wasnΓÇÖt broken until 1984!
